Frankston/Peninsula Carers Inc. (FPC) was formed as a result of the unacceptable crisis in accommodation options and support for adults with intellectual disability and their aging carers both on the Mornington Peninsula and nationally.

Apart from the 24/7 emotional and physical drain, the overwhelming concern of these carers is 'what will happen to my child when I die'.

FPC was incorporated in 2007 without any funding, but received grateful assistance in its infancy from the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Frankston City Councils.

The Charity was fortunate and continues to be managed by a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer committee. Our aim is to raise money to build housing for adults with intellectual disability.

FPC initiated, secured the land and raised $550,000 towards the first of our completed accommodation projects 'The Hastings Model', this was made possible through generous donations and support of Mornington Peninsula Shire, philanthropic trusts, businesses, numerous community groups and individuals. The complex of one and two bedroom units for independent living was opened in February 2014 and Dolphin House Community Residential House was opened in June 2011.

Since 2014 land has been secured for the building of 3 new Group Homes in Balnarring, Frankston North and McCrae each of these being at varying stages of design and construction commencement. It is anticipated that all will be completed by mid 2017.
